    Gourmet Machine Applique - Bye, Bye, Blackbird with Kate Mitchell

    Thursday, July 18th, 2019 8:30am to 11:30am ~ $45 + $5 Kit Fee 

    Students will learn to create the look of hand applique without picking up a hand needle. All aspects of constructing the quilt top will be discussed, including stem work, circles, points, working with varietal threads, and embellishment options. 

    Substantial progress will be made toward completing the quilt. Suitable for all skill levels – even the patient beginner. Student should be familiar with her machine.

    Wool Applique - Flamingo with Jen Lee

    Wool Applique is portable, easy and quick to stitch.  If you’ve always wanted to work with wool but didn’t know where to start, then this class is for you.  Jen will teach you the basics of wool applique along with 4-6 stitches for embellishing your project to make it your own.

    How Should I Quilt This? with Bill Kerr

    Regardless of whether you do your own quilting or hire someone to do it for you, deciding how to quilt a quilt perplexes many quilters. "How should I quilt this?" and "What color thread should I use?" are two of the most frequently asked questions. Learn how different approaches to quilting can bring out the best in your work. 

    This is a hands-on class. Students will leave with a variety of quilted samples that will be useful for quilting future quilts.

    Bag of Fun & Surprises with Marty Moon

    No two quilts will be alike as you piece strips of fabric and a background. The fun is in the sewing, cutting, arranging and rearranging to create that one-of-a-kind quilt of any size.  Part of the fun is not knowing what strip is coming out of the bag next. And added fun if you and your fellow students trade fabrics.

    Hand Sashiko - Coaster (Japanese Embroidery) with Jen Lee

    Thursday, July 18th, 2019 2pm to 4pm ~ $30 + $10 Kit Fee, 

    Sashiko is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching or functional embroidery from Japan. In this introductory workshop to hand Sashiko, students will learn about the history of Sashiko and the basic supplies needed to stitch this unique style. Jen will also show you how to work the stitch and transfer designs, as well as discuss its application for big-stitch hand quilting and Boro, Japanese mending. Students will  stitch a preprinted coaster that can be finished in class or at home.  Time permitting, students will also mend clothing using Sashiko stitches.  Stitchers beware…Sashiko is addictive!  

    Piecing Curves with Bill Kerr

    Learn to design and draft templates, cut precisely, and sew inset curves.  You will conquer curves using our original Eclipse design to make either a wall hanging or a napping quilt.  Using your own fabrics, you can learn about value and create a unique variation of our Eclipse quilt.

    Quick Trim Tricks with Karen Montgomery

    There is a reason that the Quick Trim is everyone’s favorite ruler.  

    Let Karen show you why that’s true.  You will learn to make flying geese without having to drawing a sewing line.  You will cut half square triangles from strips with no waste.  Just for fun we will turn your perfectly pieced blocks into circles!  You can do it all, and more with the Quick Trim Ruler.

    This Fat Quarter quilt is quick and easy to make.  Learn strip piecing with this simple block.  The stacked squares layout creates an optical illusion of framed fabric goodness.  Great for beginners and fun for quilters of any level.
