Featured in Kaffe Fassett Quilts in Morocco, we have taken a traditional snowball and made it fabulous simply by the use of colour. This quilt is a study in using variations on a single colour. Keep this in mind when choosing colours: find your colour and don’t stray too far from it, keep your choices harmonious.
If your colour theme is RED, bring reds, oranges, reddish purples, magenta, warm brown etc. Our original version is a study in blues and includes purples and greens.
In the original, a limited selection of shot cottons were used for the points. We have more fun by using strong graphic prints: large dots, fruit prints, stylized flowers, in 2 or 3 colours. This works best with a colourway that is different to your Hexagons so it frames and sets them off. Civil War prints can also be great here or black and white prints, stripes and zig zags too.
The bolder the better! Take a chance and have fun with these, or wait until class to get advice. Kaffe and Brandon will help participants shop for fabric in class. Flannel Design Wall and Class Book Provided for each participant.
This is a class suitable for beginners who already know how to sew a seam and how to use a rotary cutter. It is also for more advanced quiltmakers who wish to concentrate on complex colour development. This is a NO SEW workshop.
